Our Mission

New Orleans Reserve Police Foundation - Supporting those who volunteer to serve and protect

As you know, we are still struggling to rebuild New Orleans and fighting crime is one of our biggest obstacles in returning the City to a safe place to live, work, and visit. One of our most significant tools in fighting crime is the reserve division of the NOPD. The reserve division is composed of men and women who VOLUNTEER their time to fight crime within New Orleans. new orleans reserve police Reserve Officers are fully commissioned, fully-trained police officers who work alongside of the full-time officers in various roles including, but not limited to, street patrol, traffic, task forces, narcotics, and SWAT. They possess the same rights of arrest and are held to the same standards as their full-time NOPD counterparts, thereby providing a significant and beneficial adjunct to the NOPD and service to the City of New Orleans.

Unfortunately, the reserve division lost most of its equipment during Hurricane Katrina due to flooding and/or damage. As a result, many of our officers do not have the necessary law enforcement equipment and supplies to safely and effectively fight crime in our City. We are in desperate need of funds to replace basic equipment, uniforms, mobile computers, bullet-proof vests, and police vehicles. Without this equipment, our division simply cannot fight crime effectively and safely on the streets of New Orleans.

Your support could make an enormous difference for the reserve division by donations through our non-profit 501(c)3 organization, the New Orleans Reserve Police Foundation, Inc. It is an organization founded and operated by reserve police officers, and as such, does not incur any administrative fees or salaries, thereby allowing 100% of donations to be allocated for equipment and supplies.

To help our organization is to help the entire City of New Orleans. Crime is on the rise and is becoming more and more violent. In response, citizens of New Orleans are becoming more afraid to live, work, and rebuild in New Orleans. We are at our most desperate and needy time. If we do not fight crime and deter the violence, our citizens will lose faith in our City and leave. Sadly, this has already begun. We have a chance to stop the crime and violence and to stand strong throughout the rebuilding of our City. It all starts with your donations for much needed and essential equipment. Please help us make a difference to keep New Orleans alive and a safe place to work, live, rebuild, and visit. If you should have any questions in regard to the foregoing, please do not hesitate to contact us.

Thank you.
